Le Carmelitane del Corpus Christi festeggiano il centenario di fondazione
Il 16 luglio, commemorazione solenne della Beata Vergine Maria del Monte Carmelo, le Carmelitane del Corpus Christi hanno celebrato il centenario di fondazione con una celebrazione eucaristica nella città inglese di Leicester. Fu proprio a Leicester, infatti, che madre Maria Ellerker del Santissimo Sacramento fondò una comunità femminile dedita alla vita contemplativa per mezzo della preghiera e dell’impegno sociale. La Congregazione è stata affiliata all'Ordine Carmelitano nel 1927 e oggi conta comunità in Inghilterra, nei Caraibi, in America del Nord e in Liberia, molte delle quali erano rappresentate all’Eucaristia del centenario.
Nel corso della celebrazione le sorelle hanno offerto un dono al Priore Provinciale della provincia britannica, padre Wilfrid McGreal O.Carm., ringraziando i frati per il loro sostegno e formazione. Alla celebrazione eucaristica hanno preso parte sr Antoniette Dickie O.Carm. – superiora generale della Congregazione –, il sindaco di Leicester, molti laici carmelitani, e monsignor Robert Rivas, OP, arcivescovo di Castries.
Le suore concluderanno le celebrazioni centenarie con un pellegrinaggio nei luoghi della fondatrice che sono in Gran Bretagna.
Infine, tutta la documentazione per la causa di beatificazione della fondatrice sarà completata durante il Capitolo Generale della Congregazione che si terrà in Guyana dall’11 al 25 agosto prossimi ed avrà per tema: “Con l'Eucaristia, nel Carmelo, cerchiamo di servire il Signore con gioia”.

Las Hermanas Carmelitas del Corpus Christi señalan el centenario de su fundación
El 16 de julio, día de la Solemnidad de Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo, las Hermanas Carmelitas del Corpus Christi señalaron los 100 años de su fundación, con una Misa de Centenario en la ciudad inglesa de Leicester. Fue en Leicester donde Madre Mary Ellerker del Santísimo Sacramento formó una comunidad de mujeres dedicadas a la vida contemplativa con un alcance social. La Congregación se afilió a la Orden Carmelita en 1927, y en la actualidad cuenta con comunidades en Inglaterra, el Caribe, Norteamérica y Liberia, muchas de las cuales estuvieron representadas en la Eucaristía. Durante las celebraciones, las hermanas presentaron al Prior Provincial de la Provincia Británica, Fr. Wilfrid McGreal, O.Carm., que agradeció a los hermanos su apoyo y formación. A la Misa asistió la Hermana Antoinette Dickie, O.Carm. (Priora General de la Congregación), el alcalde de Leicester, muchos Carmelitas laicos, y Robert Rivas, O.P., Arzobispo de Castries. Las hermanas concluyen su centenario con una visita a lugares británicos relacionados con su fundadora. Los documentos para la beatificación de ésta se ultimarán durante el Capítulo General de la Congregación, que se celebrará en la Guayana entre el 11 y el 25 de agosto, con la reflexión sobre el tema "Con la Eucaristía, centrados en el Carmelo, sirvamos al Señor con Alegría". Corpus Christi Carmelite Sisters mark the centenary of their foundation
On 16th July, the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Corpus Christi Carmelite Sisters marked 100 years of their foundation with a Centenary Mass in the English city of Leicester. It was in Leicester that Mother Mary Ellerker of the Blessed Sacrament formed a community of women devoted to contemplative living through prayer and social outreach. The Congregation was affiliated to the Carmelite Order in 1927 and today has communities in England, the Caribbean, North America and Liberia, many of which were represented at the Eucharist. During the celebrations the sisters made a presentation to the Prior Provincial of the British Province, Fr. Wilfrid McGreal, O.Carm., thanking the friars for their support and formation. The Mass was attended by Sister Antoinette Dickie, O.Carm. (Prioress General of the Congregation), the Lord Mayor of Leicester, many lay Carmelites, and Robert Rivas, O.P., the Archbishop of Castries. The siste rs are concluding their centenary celebrations with a tour of places in Britain associated with their founder. The paperwork for her beatification cause will be finalised during the Congregation's General Chapter, to be held in Guyana from 11th to 25th August, which will reflect on the theme "With the Eucharist, centred in Carmel, let us serve the Lord with gladness".
